A DENTAL hygienist has celebrated his 30th year in the industry by winning an award at the annual Dental Awards in London.

John Stansfield, 51, who works at Main Street Dental, Frodsham, and the Rock House Dental, Christleton, was named Dental Hygienist of the Year at the awards ceremony on Friday, April 23, at the Lancaster London Hotel.

The married grandfather and father of two said: “It was a super night, normally when I’m stood in front of large numbers of people I’m lecturing so it was a nice change.

“I’ve been working in Frodsham for about 15 years and I also practice in Christleton doing two days a week in each,” added John, who was presented with a specially designed glass trophy.

“I was nominated by the practice, shortlisted by a panel and then the judges select a winner from the final four people who are all there on the night.

John also writes for a dentistry magazine, runs a website as well as sitting on the Royal College of Dentistry and other panels.

The 12th annual awards, which saw dental practitioners from across the country come together to recognise the highest standard of clinical care, showcases the best the UK dental profession has to offer.

Chairwoman of the judging panel, Sophie-Marie Odum, added: “The event was a huge success.

“I would like to thank those who entered and congratulate all the winners.

“It was fantastic.”
