BURIAL costs in Frodsham must be increased next year a town councillor has warned.
Cllr Doreen Woods said she was concerned that fees at the town council-owned cemetery in Tarvin Road had not altered for four years after the council approved the amenities committee recommendation to peg the fees for 2010/11.
Committee vice-chair, Cllr Pammi Taylor, said income from the cemetery last year had “well exceeded the expected budget figure and we didn’t think an increase was appropriate”.
Frodsham Cemetery fees were based on charges made by neighbouring authorities, she added.
The current cost of a burial plot for Frodsham residents is £360, with interment fee of £100.
Cremated remains fee is £136 for a plot and £50 for interment, and the cost of a plaque and purchase agreement for the Memorial Garden is £150.
Scattering of ashes is free.
Charges are doubled for non residents.
