An outstanding group of fundraisers has raised more than £1,300 for a local cancer charity.

The ladies of the Frodsham Committee of North West Cancer Research (NWCR) welcomed 120 guests to their annual Spring Lunch to help fund pioneering research into the causes of cancer.

Committee members spent hours tirelessly prepping, cooking and serving a two course lunch, which was followed by wine and coffee.

Jean Knowles, secretary of the Frodsham Committee, said: “The committee and I would like to thank all our loyal supporters and everyone who helped us on the day.

“It was overwhelming to see so many people within the community come along and have a thoroughly enjoyable day whilst raising a phenomenal amount of money for NWCR.”

Chief executive of NWCR Anne Jackson said: “It is fantastic to see how much dedication and passion our committees have. To welcome 120 people to an event and raise more than £1,300 is outstanding.

“We are currently funding seven new research projects into the causes of cancer. It is events like the Frodsham Spring Lunch that have enabled us to come this far and invest in new studies.

“From NWCR I would like to say a massive thank you too all our committees and the energy they put in every day.”
