Organisers of the inaugural Frodsham Summer Festival this weekend are hoping it will enjoy the same status in the town’s calendar as the Christmas Festival and Parade.

Ryan Edghill and Mark Rowland, of the North West Amateur Football Association, have been working tirelessly  for the past few months to stage a free  festival which ‘caters for everybody’ at Saltworks Fields, on Ship Street.

The community-minded pair have drawn on their own experiences as regular festival-goers to formulate a jam-packed line-up for Saturday and  Sunday.

People will be treated to live music, including a set by tribute act Take That Live, Jack the Lad and The Banned.

A funfair, tug of war, barbecue, rodeo bull, licensed bar and ‘it’s a knockout’ are among the attractions on offer.

All profits from the festival will be donated to various community projects, including Frodsham Youth Association and the Will to Work Workshop.

Ryan said: “It’ll be a proper mini festival. We wanted to run an annual summer festival that people look forward to every year and where the community comes together for the weekend.

“It’s a chance to be part of the first many.

“I’m hoping it will prove as popular as the Christmas event and that in five years’ time, we’ll have big name acts on the bill.”

The event is being sponsored by Frodsham-based Complete Security Service, with additional support from KDE Electrical and Encirc.
