AS PART of an innovative collaboration between Cheshire West and Chester Council and Hoole Tennis Club, work has been undertaken to clean and repaint the courts at Alexandra Park.

This work is being funded by Hoole Tennis Club in return for part use of the courts for the next three years.

Hoole Tennis Club has recently been awarded Clubmark, a national scheme run by Sport England for amateur sports clubs to demonstrate achievement of recognised standards in running junior coaching schemes.

Councillor Richard Short, executive member for culture and recreation, said: “This initiative is a great example of how Chester West and Chester Council can work in partnership with local sports clubs to provide improved sporting and coaching opportunities for their local communities.”

In line with the club’s action plan for increased community participation in tennis, free coaching sessions are being run during the summer in conjunction with the council for players of all ages and abilities, for beginners or those returning to tennis.
