RUNCORN'S Canal Boat Adventure Project has received a £1,000 donation from the Moore Foundation.

John McClusker and Nigel Moore, directors of VRS Leasing, set up the Moore Foundation in order to raise funds for local charities.

The Canal Boat Adventure Project's Nessie Club, based at Clay-more Navigation in Preston Brook, is planning to use the cash to fund Football Fever - a youth exchange involving its partner organisation Kids & Co in Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Germany.

Football Fever is a sports initiative celebrating the World Cup, with young people from Halton organising five-a-side football, swimming, baseball and netball matches for their German visitors.

Norma Hornby, chairwoman of the Canal Boat Adventure Project, said: 'Both John and Nigel have been very supportive towards our Nessie Club over the past twelve months and they have turned up at events to encourage our young people.'
