A FOOTBALLER has kicked off a charity event.

Former Everton captain Kevin Ratcliffe and Flintshire councillor Tony Sharps met at Northop Country Park Golf Club on Friday, July 24, to launch the Save the Family event.

The charity is hosting the golf fundraiser on September 10 and is inviting teams of four to register to take part.

Save the Family fundraising assistant Rachael Hillier said: "This event has been organised by the lady captain of the Tarporley Protal Premier Golf Club, Judy Piper, it is going to be a fantastic fundraising day for Save the Family. "We hope to raise £6,000 from ticket sales and the auction that will take place on the night.

"I am very grateful Cllr Sharps and Kevin Ratcliffe have been kind enough to help raise awareness of the event."

From 11-12noon there will be complimentary tea, coffee and bacon sandwiches, registration is from 12-12.30 with a 1pm shotgun start with dinner, presentations and auction from 6.30-9pm.
