ONLY last year Britt Wilkinson was made redundant and left worried about how she would find a new job while looking after a young family.
But 12 months on she not only has her dream job but is running her own business.
The 26-year-old mum-of-two has set up Britt Wilkinson Childminding Services thanks to a helping hand from The Prince’s Trust.
Britt, of Gladstone Road in Broughton, signed up for the The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme to see if her business ideas were viable after losing her job at Bank of America in Chester.
She said: “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and their support has been fantastic.
“I even have a business mentor to help me through the first 18 months.”
And Britt, who is a member of the National Childminding Association (NCMA), has even converted the garage at her home into a playroom.
She added: “I needed a safe and stimulating enviroment for children to play, learn and have fun – this is ideal!
“I have vacancies for children of all ages. I can have five children from birth to eight years, three of which can be under five at any one time.”
Britt, who is mum to eight-year-old Kian and Blake, 14 months, says she is excited about the future.
“I know it is going to be really hard work, but I can’t wait,” she said.
“This is something I have always wanted to do.
“This is the only good thing to come out of my redundancy and I am determined to give it a real shot.
“The Prince’s Trust have been amazing and I would encourage any young people who are looking to set up their own business to give them a call.”
The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme supports unemployed young people aged 18-30.
