A FORMER Abbey Gate College pupil went on a secret mission to the Saighton college last week.

A Chronicle request for an interview with sound engineer Joe Jones elicited a loud (Dr) No from his boss, multi-Grammy award-winning Paul Epworth, for fear that he may ‘leak’ information, which would scare The Living Daylights out of him.

Joe has been working on the recording of singer Adele’s performance of the new Bond theme Skyfall at studios in London and Abbey Road.

As assistant engineer to Epworth for two years, Joe has recorded many famous artists including Florence and The Machine.

He was told that his work was For Your Eyes Only.

Joe is also a former Chester Cathedral chorister and sang in their internationally acclaimed Chapel Choir before graduating in music production from Leeds College of Music.

There was, however, a Quantum of Solace in the fact that the college was able to send in a photo of Joe working with A-level music students.

The (Gold)finger is now pointing at students Nick Bradley, Oliver Eastwood, Rory Byrne and Sam Patterson who may have to send postcards From Russia with Love until the opening of the new film on October 26.
