CHESHIRE Community Foundation is one of the latest to be established in the UK, with a mission to strengthen and enrich communities by inspiring, managing and directing local philanthropy, so it has impact in areas of greatest need.

In delivering its mission it promises to make the giving by local philanthropists rewarding, enjoyable and hassle free as it connects them with local causes that will benefit Cheshire for years to come.

SSAFA Forces Help in Cheshire is the regional branch of a national charity established in 1885 that is dedicated to the welfare of service personnel both past and present in all three armed services and of course their families.

An application for a grant was submitted to the Cheshire Community Foundation to partly meet the day to day operating costs of the organisation, which are below 5% of the amount it raises to meet its client needs, and critically to enable it to expand its number of trained caseworkers to meet a growing demand for its services as a result of current and previous conflicts.

Alan McNulty, the Cheshire branch chairman, was delighted to learn the bid had been approved: “The support Cheshire Community Foundation will provide over the next three years is critical to ensuring we can maintain our focus on the needs of others who have given service to their country and now need our help.”
