POLICE have been reprimanded by a crown court judge after failing to secure compensation for crash victim Caroline Grant, pictured.
Caroline, of Lache, and her two-year-old son Joe received horrific injuries when boy-racers Iain Littler and Paul Hughes crashed into her car at Overleigh roundabout in October 2004.
Judge Merfyn Hughes QC has threatened to report Cheshire Police Chief Constable Peter Fahy for contempt of court because the force failed to carry out his orders to sell Littler's car and give the money to Caroline.
Police say the Ford Escort had been modified and was unroadworthy. A significant amount of repairs needed to be carried out.
Chester Crown Court heard on Wednesday that the police are keen to organise a meeting with Caroline and her family to discuss why there has been no progress in the last year.
Judge Hughes said he would not let the matter rest until action has been taken and ordered police to arrange a meeting with the Grant family and then return to Mold Crown Court on June 22.
