A GOVERNMENT tourism chief took a whirlwind helicopter tour of some of Cheshire's tourist hotspots this week.
Kevin Williamson, head of tourism at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) attended a meeting at Chester Zoo with more than 20 of the area's leading tourism businesses to discuss their plans for future growth.
Mr Williamson was joined on the flight by Cheshire and Warrington Tourism Board chairman Mike Cooksley, its chief
executive Chris Brown, and Cheshire County Council Weaver Valley Project leader Ian Dale.
Mr Williamson heard plans for CWTB's three signature projects - the Weaver Valley Regional Park; Chester Zoo and Chester Culture Park - and joined discussions on key tourism issues and developments in the area.
CWTB's mission statement says it hopes to build the tourism industry to increase visitor spending to £1.5 billion and boost tourism jobs in the region to 27,000.
