A flood alert has been put in place as the region prepares for severe weather this weekend.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for properties and farmland close to the River Dee, including locations at Farndon, Poulton, Aldford, Eccleston, and Huntington.

And properties across Shocklach, Handley, Lower Kinnerton, Chester and Puddington have been placed on flood alert as river levels remain high.

The Environment Agency said they expect localised flooding as surface water gathers and will continue to monitor the situation.

High tides at the beginning of January led to flooding in parts of Chester.

Meanwhile the North West was issued with a severe weather warning yesterday with high winds and snow predicted to hit the region later on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1.
