A 23-YEAR-OLD woman from Holywell, Flintshire has been arrested following a road traffic collision in Tarporley where a 51-year-old man died.

Cheshire Constabulary is appealing for witnesses in connection with the collision, which happened on Eaton Road at the rear of the Portal Business Park at 12.45am this morning (Saturday).

The 23-year-old woman was the only one in the green Nissan Micra she was driving when the vehicle was in collision with the 51-year-old man, who was crossing the road at the time of the incident.

The man, who was local to the area, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His next of kin have been informed.

A second pedestrian, a 25-year-old man from Nantwich, suffered minor injuries.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and of causing death by dangerous driving. She was taken into custody and is awaiting police interview.

A spokeswoman for Cheshire Constabulary said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision itself or seen the pedestrian walking along Eaton Road, Tarporley, or who may have seen the green Nissan Micra driving along."
