Heavy rain downpours are causing disruption across Ellesmere Port and Chester this Tuesday afternoon (June 14).

Motorists travelling on the M56 and M53 are advised to take care due to surface water creating hazardous driving conditions.

Stanney Lane in Ellesmere Port has been hit by flash floods, with the emergency services are warning people to avoid the area if possible.

Some shops at the nearby Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet have also been flooded, The Chronicle understands.

The M53 is affected in both directions between junction 10 for Little Stanney and junction 12 for the A55, while there is also surface water in both directions of the M56 around junction 15.

Traffic is slow on the A5117 in Saughall between Backford Cross and the M56 junction,

Chester police have also warned of flooding at Kelsall on the A54.

A wet weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for the region for the third day running.
