SCORES of fitness fanatics in Widnes flocked to visit a new sports and nutrition stall where they were put through their paces by a leading personal trainer.

Paul Lund, 27, claims gym enthusiasts in Halton have been desperate to receive the 'correct advice' in attaining their fitness goals after scores of people joined gyms at the start of the new year to beat the bulge.

And over the Easter period Paul took time out to give the general public the opportunity to see how fit they actually are by holding a series of free fitness tests.

Paul said: 'I have spoken to dozens of people who have come to me asking for my help on getting fit after they have tried to tackle their fitness problems themselves down at their local gym.

'But some of the people have not been getting told exactly what they need and this is resulting in many failing to reach a general level of fitness that they desire.

'With the new stall I can give them sound advice and tips on how to get into shape. These days it is not just about pounding away on a treadmill for hours on end, fitness is a lot more complex than that.

'The free fitness tests provided the perfect chance for people to come down and see what fitness was about.

'The free consultations are also a great way of getting new people involved as well as evaluating their general fitness.'

Paul, who is also a self defence teacher in Widnes and a doorman at a Widnes nightclub, completed fitness tests on punters which included measuring body fat, body mass index, blood pressure, lifestyle evaluation and advice on how to use a heart rate monitor.

Paul added: 'Fitness and nutrition is very important for everybody

these days and it's crucial that you get the right advice as everybody's needs and aims are different.'
