KEEN anglers have the chance to cast their lines into three lakes at a new fishing complex in Dodleston.

Chester Lakes, at Greenwalls Farm on Church Road, was set up by dairy farmer Alec Pickering and manager Andy Wilkie to give beginner and experienced fishing enthusiasts somewhere to enjoy the sport.

The complex, which opened in May has three lakes the Eccleston, Aldford and Pulford, which are stocked with 36,000 fish ranging up to a 12lb carp, and including trench, rudd and bream.

Andy, who is a keen angler and worked as a fishing guide in Spain for a number of years, said: “This is a great place for both experienced anglers and those who wish to learn how to fish. The lakes are well stocked to give anglers the best opportunity to make a catch.

“We have great facilities here including a café which is open seven days a week, picnic benches and a children’s play area. We want to make this a great place for a family day out.”

Andy is hoping to get more youngsters involved in the sport and has already invited a number of schools to bring classes down to the lakes to learn about fishing.
