Ben, aged eight, who also appeared in the 2013 Chester Mystery Plays as a jockey in the raceday scenes will take to the stage for up to eight performances of the challenging musical which will star Marti Pellow as Che and Madalena Alberto as Eva Peron.
In school Ben enjoys drama on a Friday morning and sings in both the Firs School Junior and Chamber Choirs. He lives in Chester and also attends Stagecoach Chester.
The talented young Firs pupil is delighted to have been selected and said: “I’m really excited to have been given this once in a lifetime opportunity and know it will be a challenge to keep up with my school work and put in a great performance on stage.
“I won’t miss out. Rehearsals start soon and I’m really looking forward to meeting other members of the cast.”
Headteacher, Margaret Denton added: “Everyone here at The Firs is committed to ensure Ben keeps up with his learning and will support his timetable for Evita’s rehearsals and performances. Ben is one of a number of ‘superstars’ here who have gone on to careers in the media and on stage and we know we can offer this flexibility. He is very talented as are all our children at the school, it’s a great opportunity for him and I’m sure he will be brilliant .”
Ben’s performances will take place in Evita from March 17-22 at the Palace Theatre in Manchester.
