Artistic pupils of a Chester school starred at a Chester Arts Fair exhibition.

All year groups at The Firs School created artwork for the event, which took place at Chester Racecourse.

The impressive showcase was based on Maori art and culture as part of a larger project which links the school with Richmond Road School in New Zealand.

'Very proud'

The winners, Year 6 pupil Tilly-Mai Begley, Year 4 pupil Lucy Wild-Jones Year 4 and Reception class youngster Rose Weaving, were presented with their prizes by Claire Bear from the Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Headteacher Lucy Davies said: “We are very proud of all the artwork produced by our pupils.

“We have created a link with The Richmond Road School in Auckland, New Zealand, and this is really inspiring our pupils to learn more about the New Zealand culture and history and they have found the study of Maori art fascinating.”
