A ROOM was evacuated at Bishop Heber High School, Chester Road, Malpas when a phosphorous solid caught fire.

One fire engine from Malpas and one fire engine from Chester attended the school at 2.37pm on Monday, June 3.

The fire was out when the crews arrived.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus removed the chemical.

The room was smokey but had already been evacuated and there were no casualties.
