THE fire service are reminding people not to park over fire hydrants after crews were delayed from extinguishing a car fire because they didn’t have enough water.

An appliance from Ellesmere Port fire station was called to the Stanney Grange estate after reports of a car fire.

On arrival they found that a car was well alight and that a car was parked over the nearest fire hydrant.

It took them longer than usual to start extinguishing the fire due to the obstruction and more damage was caused to the car.
