It wasn’t a typical half term holiday for 12-year-old Matilda Freeman, from Mickle Trafford, Chester.

Instead of meeting up with friends, shopping and watching TV, she spent the week dealing with the fallout of an apocolypse...

That’s because Matilda, a Year 8 pupil at The Queen’s School, was playing one of the main roles in a new feature film, The Last Boy.

The film, which is now in post-production and is due for release mid 2017, stars former Bros star turned actor Luke Goss, Anna Wilson Jones who recently starred in the TV drama Victoria and Peter Guinness, with film and TV credits too numerous to mention.

It was directed by Perry Bhandal.

The Last Boy is set when the world is at an end. A young boy’s dying mother sends him on a quest to find the place that grants wishes. Matilda plays Lilly, a girls who accompanies the boy on his quest.

The up-and-coming actress is forging quite a name for herself, having had roles on

ITV2’s Dropperz and a lead role in a short film last year.

She also directed a short trailer herself last year, along with some Queen’s school friends for the Chester Performs Film Festival.

She said: “I love acting and I have been really lucky to have had such fantastic parts, being so young. I love how you can just lose yourself in another character for a while.

You have to be really patient with filming as there are lots of takes but I really enjoyed the atmosphere and meeting so many interesting people who have done so much in their lives. Hopefully I’ll be just like them when I’m older.”
