PUT something back into the community and get paid for it.

This is the message from Frodsham Fire Station manager, Alan Oulton, to residents interested in becoming part-time firefighters.

Mr Oulton, a Retained Duty System (RDS) firefighter at Frodsham for 27 years, is looking for up to four new recruits to join his 11-strong team.

Men and women aged 18-55 who live or work within five minutes of the Ship Street fire station and are “reasonably fit” can apply.

No experience is necessary, as recruits receive thorough training for the role, which also includes attending community events acting as ambassadors for the service.

Retained firefighters are called out an average of two or three times a week for a couple of hours.

The service is very keen to hear from people who are available on weekdays.

Anyone interested can call in at Frodsham Fire Station on drill nights, every Tuesday between 6pm and 8pm, or contact Derek Dickson on 01606 868782.
