TWO young mums have been banned from a city children’s play centre after a violent fight left handfuls of hair scattered on the floor.

On Wednesday morning (January 9) managers at Funky Town at Grange Park, off Liverpool Road in Chester, were forced to intervene as a fist fight broke out between two women.

Children and parents watched in horror as one of the mums, who was thought to be in her early 20s, punched another mum in the back of her head – while she was carrying a baby.

Members of staff came between the two women, who are thought to have been from the same area, as they pulled hair and threw punches, before prising them apart.

Parents described seeing clumps of hair left on the floor following the fight, which was caught on the play centre’s CCTV and reported to the police.

Manager of Funky Town, Hayley McKenna, said since the venue opened more than eight years ago there had never been any physical fights between parents, and that the staff’s main concern had been the safety of all the customers and children.

“We know who they are, we take everyone’s names and addresses for health and safety reasons,” said Hayley, who helped separate the women.

“Straight after the fight we sent them letters telling them never to walk through our doors again. If they try to get in their names will be flagged up.”
