WOMEN’S fashion from the 1950s is being showcased in an exhibition in the costume gallery of the Grosvenor Museum in Chester.

Fifties Frocks runs until June next year and features a nostalgic look back at how women wore clothes back then.

You can expect to see day and evening dresses, as well as cocktail and dance dresses ranging from the Parisian haute couture of Christian Dior and Jacques Fath, to those made in Wilmslow and Liverpool.

With their nipped-in waists, full skirts and fitted bodices the dresses epitomise the elegance and glamour, prettiness and femininity of fashion’s golden age.
