A CHESTER care company has made sure elderly people across the city enjoy a festive feast this year.
Cheshire Homecare, based in Lightfoot Street, Hoole, has provided gifts, five hampers and a cash donation to help provide a free Christmas meal for 50 pensioners at the Cherry Orchard pub in Cherry Lane, Boughton.
Cheshire Homecare director Debbie Leigh said: “We wanted to make sure no-one will go home empty-handed, so everyone gets a present as well as a lovely meal. This is something that we will be doing every year from now on.”
Cherry Orchard landlord Peter Wilkinson said: “This will be the third Christmas meal we have put on and it has just snowballed.
“We used to raise money doing things like weekly bonus balls, but then local businesses started to donate raffle prizes and give money. This year’s event could well be the best yet!”
