NANTWICH forged its name more powerfully on the national music scene thanks to its Folk and Root Festival over the bank holiday weekend.

Months of planning came to fruition as world-renowned performers arrived in town for an extravaganza of music and dance.

Co-organiser Dave Hogg said: 'All of the performers said what a great time they had and how great the crowds were in Nantwich.

'Glenn Tilbrook called me to say how well the musicians were treated throughout the festival and the Peatbog Faeries said it was the best show of their whole tour.

'We have already had lots of letters sent in about how successful the event was and I must thank Nantwich Town Council and all other bodies who helped fund the event.'

Delightful experiences for young and old were also provided by workshops involving ages from six to the over 60s.

In one of them youngsters made instruments from junk and raised many a smile from passing shoppers as they performed their masterpiece in the town centre.
