A WOMAN was punched in the face by a man during an unprovoked attack.

It happened at the Burleydam Garden Centre in Chester Road, Childer Thornton at 2.05pm on Wednesday.

PC Frank Morris of Ellesmere Port police said: 'The offender was riding a bicycle when he was overtaken by a woman in her car.

'She parked in the car park and the cyclist followed her. An altercation ensued in which the offender punched her to the face. He then escaped.'

The attacker was white, slim build, aged 40-49, wearing a luminous yellow jacket and cycling gloves, and possibly a hat or cycling helmet. nA man who tried to break up a fight in Acre Road, Great Sutton at 2.30pm, on Sunday, was assaulted. n A man tried to light a fire under the rear bumper of a woman's car in Berwick Road West, Little Sutton, at 8.15pm on Saturday. The car owner extinguished the blaze.

Five minutes later the same man torched the door mirror of a Transit van in the road. The flames damaged the van's wind-screen and interior.

The arsonist was white, of fat build, 5ft 9ins, aged 22-30, wearing a black waterproof jacket and red T-shirt with white collar. He escaped towards the A41. n Three drunken yobs attacked The Hub youth centre in Whitby Road, Ellesmere Port at

9.20pm on Wednesday.

They verbally abused the occupants before smashing a rear window then escaping.

All the yobs were white and aged about 15.

One was of proportionate build, wearing a blue T-shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms. Another wore a grey tracksuit, while the third wore a black tracksuit and hooded top. n Burglars smashed a bathroom window of a flat in Worcester Walk, Ellesmere Port, and stole football boots and medication from the bedroom on Wednesday night. n Crooks tried to force their way into Gladstone Village Hall in Burton on Wednesday morning but activated the alarm. nA mobile phone was stolen from a football player's bag left by the field at the Greyhound pub in Thornton Road, Ellesmere Port, on Sunday afternoon. n Witnesses can call police on 0845 4580000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
