A HALTON man is appealing for help in finding a male European eagle owl.

The bird flew away shortly after its owner had given a talk at Norton Priory on Sunday.

Terry Lewis, who is well known in the district for his birds of prey collection, said the owl had not been found despite several searches of the Norton Priory area.

The owl, pictured, answers to the name Mr Bubu and is a particular favourite with audiences at Terry's shows across the region, especially at the Liverpool Cathedral where he has been taught to fly with his mate to the very top of the building.

Terry said: 'I had just finished giving my talk at the Priory and was getting ready to take Mr Bubu to the car when I slipped, accidentally letting the bird set himself free.

'I am desperately worried because the owl still had his leash on and that could easily get tangled in a branch, strangling him or preventing him from catching food.

'I would be very grateful to have him back safely again.'
