A new look post office is on the way for the residents of Farndon.

The existing post office at Churton Road will close at 5.30pm on Wednesday, February 3 to allow for a refurbishment which will be unveiled to the public at 1pm on Friday, February 12.

The service will be provided at an open-plan counter in the store, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the till.

The Post Office service will be available during the store’s opening hours, 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.

Residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

Other services include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, sending funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can also pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.

Increased opening hours

The opening hours, which will increase by an extra 11 hours and 45 minutes a week, will ensure that the branch is much more convenient for users with more choice of times to visit.

During the closure period, services may be accessed from any convenient Post Office branch, including Tilston Post Office, Village Shop, 1 Church Road, Tilston or Queens Park Post Office, 81-83 Holt Road, Wrexham.

Area manager Caroline Pritchard said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
