A determined family have vowed to help others fight for answers after their daughter vanished off a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean.

It is almost three years since 24-year-old Rebecca Coriam mysteriously disappeared from the Disney Wonder cruise liner she was working on as it sailed off the coast of Mexico.

Ann, 54, and Mike, 60, have been fighting to get laws governing cruise ships changed since their daughter vanished on March 22, 2011, but now they have set up an international helpline aiming to unite others going through the same nightmare.

“We just have to keep going, we have still not had any answers, something has to be done, this kind of thing is happening all the time,” said Ann, who said the family were continuing to prepare for their legal battle with Disney in the USA courts in March next year.

“We have to join forces and become a team. We are in the same position as them, you do not have to speak to the other families to know how they feel. It can be distressing but we’ve become so strong now we can deal with it, just to think you can help ease other people’s pain can be quite comforting.”

Since the website was launched last week it has been viewed more than 3,000 times and the Guilden Sutton family have received dozens of emails from other families and workers living onboard cruise ships including the Disney Wonder sharing their stories and asking for their support.

“They all know about Rebecca, they don’t have to ask they know we feel the same way they do,” said Ann, who is working alongside campaigner Bill Anderson running the website.

“It is keeping us busy, Rebecca would of wanted that. We have had a lot of support and kind messages. We are continuing to fight to change the laws and get answers about what happened to her.

“I am really hopeful, I have a good feeling about this.”
