THREE members of the same family have been jailed for peddling Class A drugs on the streets of Northwich.

Tracy Harmon, 39, and Damien Joseph Peter Harmon, 38, and their 23-year-old son Damien John Harmon, all of the same Northwich address, are starting lengthy prison sentences after being convicted of a number of drug offences at Chester Crown Court.

The parents appeared in court last week after being arrested as part of Cheshire police's Operation Clean Sweep drive last year. Damien Harmon received four-and-a-half years and his wife got two years for supply offences.

They have joined their son behind bars after he was sentenced a month ago to two years imprisonment for being concerned with the supply of Class A drugs.

The sentencing of the Harmons is the latest in a string of convictions of drug dealers who were operating throughout Mid Cheshire.

All were arrested during dawn swoops by officers who raided a number of addresses in October.

In total, dealers from Northwich, Winsford and Liverpool have received more than 60 years imprisonment for the possession and supply of Class A drugs, such as heroin and crack cocaine, to users living in Northwich.

Police say Operation Clean Sweep is continuing and raids on properties that police believe are concerned with the possession or supply of Class A drugs are still taking place, with the latest as recently as last week.

Detective Inspector Andy Southcott, who has been in charge of the operation, praised the sentences.

He said: 'The sentencing of Tracy and Damien Harmon shows that some hefty sentencing has been issued by the courts.

'The sentences that have been passed also seem to highlight the courts' commitment to ridding our communities of these offenders.'
