A REDUNDANT site described as an 'eyesore' has been sold in double-quick time.

Harrow Estates exchanged and completed contracts on the land purchase in Ellesmere Port in two days.

The site in question is a 19-acre former plant yard on Cambridge Road. The purchase was made on an unconditional basis from Alfred McAlpine developers.

Mike Riding, managing director of Harrow Estates, said: 'The site, which occupies a high-profile location alongside one of the main approaches to Ellesmere Port, had been redundant for eight years and had become somewhat an eyesore.

'We believe it offers a significant opportunity to regenerate the area and enhance a previously under-utilised asset.'

Moderately contaminated, the site requires full on-site remodelling, including demolition and crushing of hard-standing.

A planning application is currently being prepared and a scheme of redevelopment will be brought forward in full consideration with the borough council, nearby residents and other interested parties.

Harrow Estates has a nationwide remit specialising in the reclamation and master planning of old industrial and derelict sites for investment and regeneration.

In addition to the Ellesmere Port scheme, the company is currently involved in regeneration and future development projects in Cheshire, South Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
