Students at Tarporley High School achieved the highest ever percentage of top grade passes in their GCSEs this year.

Their excellent results show that the class of 2013 well and truly embraced their year group theme of ‘Rise to the Challenge’, with 76% of students obtaining A*-C grades.

And an impressive 37% of all grades came out at A*/A.

Headteacher Sarah Lee said: “We are overwhelmingly proud of all our students.

“They have shown outstanding commitment and motivation throughout their time at Tarporley and this is reflected in their academic results.

“As a school, we continue our exceptionally high standards with a quarter of all of our students gaining at least 7A* and A grades.

“Our 20 highest achieving girls and boys have 238 A*/A grades between them, whilst every single student has passed at least 5 GCSEs, enabling all to progress either to A-evel study here at our sixth form college, or to pursue their chosen college and training courses.”

She added: “I’d like to congratulate all our students and thank their families for all the support they have given over the last five years.

“I’d also like to offer my congratulations also to our talented staff whose dedication to the students has contributed to these momentous results, and to their inspirational year leader, Miss Cheshire.”
