Former frontman of the biggest band ever to come out of Chester has announced details of his first solo EP.

EP ONE is the creation of Paul Draper, ex-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of ‘90s rock band Mansun, with a release date of Friday June 10.

The three tracks on the EP are the first official recordings by Paul Draper since 2004’s posthumous Mansun collection Kleptomania.

The NME reports that the first track – ‘Feeling My Heart Run Slow – was first revealed during a Mansun Convention at The Live Rooms in Chester back in August 2014.

Former Mansun frontman Paul Draper has announced details of his first solo EP.

It is described as a’ thundering juggernaut of a revenge rock n roll song’, while No Ideas is said to be ‘a mind-expanding spy movie soundtrack’ and The Silence is Deafening is defined as a ‘gleaming pop song’.

All tracks on EP ONE were recorded at Paul’s studio, The Kitchen. No Ideas was recorded with four times Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist solo artist Steven Wilson.

London-based Paul, who grew up in Wavertree, Liverpool, before moving with his family to Deeside, told The Chronicle in 2014: “Outside my focus on the recording and writing process, I keep a very quiet life these days so I can stay focused on what I’m working on at any given time.

“My rock ‘n’ roll days are well and truly a distant memory now, I don’t drink and try to avoid smoking and I avoid the party scene like the plague.

“I wouldn’t say I’m a health freak but I’m a trier, vitamins and healthy food are the norm for me these days.

“I’ve got a great local pub if I get an evening off and understanding friends who are happy for me to disappear for months on end on a project.

“But my life revolves around writing and producing music. I doubt I will ever retire, it’s my life’s passion and I’m really thankful for every day I can carry on pursuing my passion.”

Paul is currently working on his debut solo album for release in the near future.

As frontman, main songwriter and producer of Mansun, he was the face of one of the most iconic bands of the ’90s. The group’s debut album Attack of the Grey Lantern entered the UK chart at number one. But the band split in 2003 while recording their fourth LP.
