CHESHIRE County Council said: 'A genuine error was made at executive with regard to the date of the abolition of the School Organisation Committee but this was rectified by a letter sent to heads and governors the following day.

'The decision on St Paul's, Boughton, has been called in by Cllr Sue Proctor (Lib Dem), Cllr Peter Nurse and Cllr Peter Byrne (Lab) and will now go to the Children's Services Select Scrutiny Committee on June 19.

'Members will consider its merit and decide whether or not to offer advice to the executive or to refer the issue to full council for its advice.

'Parents can submit written questions to that meeting which must be with the authority by June 13.

'If advice is offered to the next meeting of the executive on June 28, members can decide whether to accept it in whole, or part, or to rectify their original decision.

'If the scrutiny committee decides against offering advice the decision will be implemented immediately with the publication of formal notices of proposed closure.

'In that case there would be a six-week period for anyone to make representations or objections to that proposal.'
