AN ENTERPRISE day at Blacon Community and Arts Centre was hailed a success after more than 60 people braved the weather to attend.

Experts on hand with advice included representatives from local businesses, agencies and clients of the enterprise coaching service, as well as Well Blacon and the Jolly Tots playgroup.

Also featured was the Xie Martial Arts and Lion Dance Team, who performed a short demonstration on the stage.

The aim of the event was to promote the refurbished facilities at the centre and to encourage people in and around Blacon to think about training and get info on setting up their own business.

Enterprise coach Joanne Roberts said: “I was very satisfied with the event. There was a good vibe in the centre throughout the day.

“Among the people attending was a disillusioned former volunteer worker who has now made the step back into volunteering through the enterprise scheme, and another young volunteer made the most of the event by offering to volunteer at other events, signing up with Connexions and making contacts with all the agencies present.

“The existing clients who attended found the event extremely valuable in terms of making contacts with professionals who can support them in developing their businesses. One was over the moon that she sold one of her paintings!”
