RESIDENTS in Tattenhall will get the chance to learn more about saving on their fuel costs at an energy awareness event at the Barbour Institute on November 10.

As part of their Fuel Poverty project, Cheshire Community Action (CCA) have joined forces with Cheshire West and Chester Council and Warm Zone to organise the event, which will run from 2-8pm.

Villagers can hear expert advice on how they can cut down on their energy bills, learn about new green technologies and different energy sources, and find out more about insulation grants.

There will be a variety of information stands available on the day with representatives from different organisations including Age UK, Warm Zone and the Energy Saving Trust.

The initiative ties in with CCA’s Village Agent project where representatives spend time visiting vulnerable and elderly individuals in the area.

Tattenhall village agent Carol Weaver, who has organised the event, said elderly people may be living in larger and older homes that struggle to maintain heat so the day will be especially relevant.

“Lots of residents in the community have expressed their interest in green technology but admit they don’t know much about it,” she explained.

“With the clocks recently going back, it is a good time to hold this session which will be focusing on winter fuel.

“We want to help people find out if they are on the right track with their energy and to offer free and impartial adice. We are hoping for a very good turnout.”
