THE new face of community policing in Tarporley has started her training in the village.

Emily Benson, 25, will be attached to local PC Chris McCourt for the next few weeks while she learns her role as a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO).

PCSO Benson, pictured, previously worked as a secretary at a solicitors in Shrewsbury but she is looking forward to the challenge of tackling anti-social behaviour in the area.

She said: 'I have always been interested in policing and I felt like this was a good way in.

'I've really enjoyed it so far - it is so much better than being stuck at a desk in an office all day.

'I will be dealing with anti-social behaviour, traffic issues and alcohol-related problems.

PCSO Benson is currently based at Dragon Hall Police Station near Tattenhall but in the future it is hoped she will have an office in Tarporley Community Centre.

'I'm relishing the opportunity to get involved with the community and being able to help sort out their problems,' she said.

PCSO Benson was introduced to parish councillors at their monthly meeting last week.
