A Chester charity has raised enough funds to purchase more oxygen therapy machines for the Countess of Chester’s Children’s Unit.

The Emily Fiion Trust has presented the unit with a further two Optiflow machines.

The trust was established in 2013 by John and Sara Sowden and Nia and Dave Brammer in memory of John and Sara’s daughter and Nia and Dave’s niece Emily who passed away suddenly from acute bronchiolitis.

Emily unfortunately couldn’t benefit from using one of these Optiflow systems but the trust’s mission is to raise funds to supply them in the Countess and other hospitals in the area.

John and Sara Sowden met patient Lucas Harrison

John and Sara visited the children’s unit to see the machines being delivered and met patient Lucas Harrison, a frequent service user and benefits from the Optiflow each night as part of his care.

Ward manager Anne Martyn said that she couldn’t thank the trust and their consistently generous supporters enough.
