MORE than 200 pupils at Elton Primary School are to get two days extra summer holiday due to a delay over building work.

Parents and carers who were expecting the school to re-open on Thursday, September 2 have been contacted by letter and phone.

A spokesman for Cheshire West and Chester Council said that the decision to delay the start of term had been taken on health and safety grounds and in the best interests of the children.

It has been arranged with S4YC, a local child care provider, for additional child care sessions to be available in the Community Centre on Thursday and Friday of next week.

Parents who require this provision are asked to telephone David James on 07734 705559.
