A TALENTED scriptwriter has penned his first theatrical drama, which hits the stage this week.

Elric Cadwallader, of Brooklyn Drive, Great Sutton, has also directed the play Sagacity which will be shown at Edge Hill University's Rose Theatre tomorrow night.

He has been working on the piece during his two gap years and will be studying for a degree in acting at Edge Hill University this September.

Elric, 20, who grew up in Ellesmere Port and attended Sutton High School, believes he was always destined to be involved in performing arts.

He said: 'I've always been interested in theatre as far back as I remember. I worked with Action Transport Theatre Company on many projects which really developed my skills.

'I was involved in the writing of a full-length play with them on their young writer's programme which was one of the motives for me starting Sagacity.'

The crime drama, set in present-day London and Scotland, was originally a monologue, only intended for entry into a BBC TV competition.

Elric added: 'The monologue never made it to London because I'd fallen in love with the characters and the world I'd started to create so I decided to finish the story.

'Sagacity was the result.' The plot centres round an eventful and complicated journey where the lead character sets out to fulfil a mission assigned to him by a Bolivian crime lord.

'I'm very pleased with the final script and I hope the audience think so too as we've put a lot of hard work into it,' said Elric.
