Two new brands are moving in as a leading shopping park enjoys the latest phase of a £3m revamp.
River Island and Sports Direct have both signed up to join the shopping line-up at the Coliseum Shopping Park as owners The Crown Estate crack on with the second phase of its multi million pound makeover.
The stores are set to open this Autumn.
The owners say the brands will enhance the line-up of fashion and lifestyle retailers on offer at the Coliseum, which already includes the likes of H&M, Next, Outfit and Debenhams.
The new lettings come as The Crown Estate has announced it is set to progress the second phase of its £3m investment programme for the park following the completion of a series of improvements in 2014.
The second phase of works is seeing the exteriors of the park’s middle terrace, comprising five retail units, revitalised with a new modern façade, improving the attractiveness of the overall retail environment for visitors.
The first phase saw an upgrading of the exteriors of the terrace occupied by Debenhams, H&M, New Look and Deichmann, the installation of a pirate ship themed children’s play area and the creation of a new community garden, designed and built in partnership with local children’s charity Quarriers Young People Support Service.
Hannah Milne, head of The Crown Estate’s regional portfolio said: “River Island and Sports Direct will make fantastic additions to the line-up of leading retailers we already have on offer at Coliseum Shopping Park.
“Alongside continuing to enhance the retail offer, we also know that shoppers want to spend their valuable time in attractive, modern surroundings which is why we’re continuing to invest in the park’s building’s and public spaces.”
Both brands have also commented on their impending arrival.
A spokesperson for Sports Direct, which is moving from the Cheshire Oaks designer outlet to occupy the former Argos store next to Debenhams said: “We offer something for everybody and we’re very proud to open a flagship store in a great location like Ellesmere Port.
“As we continue to grow throughout the UK, our ethos remains the same. Our customers get the biggest brands in all types of sportswear, footwear and sports equipment as well as fashion brands at our famously low prices.”
Frances Baker, property director at River Island said: “We are looking forward to opening in this very successful retail park.”
The Crown Estate owns 17 shopping parks and three shopping centres across the country.
