A MAN was airlifted to hospital following a three-vehicle crash on the A5117 near Ellesmere Port.

The 59-year-old motorist was taken to a hospital in Manchester by air ambulance having been cut out of his car following the collision at 2.45pm on Friday, July 6.

The crash also involved a fuel tanker and a Renault Megane.

The A5117 was closed at Poole Lane and Elton Services while emergency services dealt with the incident and wasn't reopened until 6.45pm.

The driver of the Renault sustained a foot injury and was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital, while the tanker driver was left shocked but uninjured.

Cheshire police are asking anyone who was travelling on the A5117 at the time and may have any information that could assist officers to call 101 quoting incident number 594 of July 6.

The road was reopened at 6.45pm.
