Burglars stole a safe in from an elderly couple’s home in Ellesmere Port.

The house near Great Sutton Village Hall was targeted when the owners were not in between 12.30pm and 4.30pm on September 29.

Cheshire Police are appealing for information surrounding the crime.

Detective Constable Tom Murphy said: “I would urge anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area hours or days before the burglary or afterwards to contact police.

“The offender or offenders struck in broad daylight taking a safe from the property and I’m hoping someone will have seen them.

The burglars forced open the front door and stole items including the safe, which was bolted to a wall.

Elderly couple left shaken

DC Murphy said: “Thankfully the elderly couple were not in at the time, but they have been left shaken by the fact someone has broken into their home.

“Burglary is an emotive crime for the victim which can leave them feeling violated and nervous in their own home.

“We are supporting the couple following their ordeal and hope that someone will come forward with information to help us find those responsible.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Murphy on 101 quoting incident number 648 of 29 September 2015.
