Ellesmere Port Civic Hall will play host to the town’s latest ‘Live Local Work Local’ jobs fair to be held on Thursday, September 22.

The two previous highly successful events have seen over 50 employers looking to fill over 450 job vacancies in the manufacturing, care, construction, leisure and retail industries.

Hundreds have poured through the door looking for jobs with training and skills advice, money advice and information about volunteering opportunities also on offer.

The initiative is a partnership between Plus Dane Housing and Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Running from 10am to 2pm, the jobs, skills and enterprise event is intended to lead to positive employment opportunities for local people and communities.

Plus Dane says both previous events have been a great success with employers, business organisations and training providers attending.

Kate Jungnitz, director of Ellesmere Port and Neston for Plus Dane, said: “As well as giving business the chance to talk to potential applicants about the skills and experience they would need, they allowed local residents the chance to find out more about different career paths. Feedback from employers taking part was overwhelmingly positive as they felt it was a useful way to promote jobs and apprenticeships.”

Thornton’s Café, Cheshire Oaks was one of the companies that were looking to fill vacancies at last year’s event. They interviewed 11 people on the day offering positions to five candidates.

Manager Helen Naggs said: “Working alongside the Ellesmere Port Work Zone we were looking to employ in the local area and support the regeneration of Ellesmere Port by offering employment opportunities to people who had been unemployed for a while.

“Live Local Work Local was extremely successful for us and we were pleased with the high standard of candidates. Five people secured permanent positions with training and career progression opportunities.”
