Dance devotees are reaching for the top.

Dance and musical theatre students studying their final year at West Cheshire College’s Ellesmere Port-based dance school Renarta are on their way to becoming professional performers after securing places at leading dance schools across the UK.

Abbie Tovey, 17, has already been offered places at five schools including the Laine Theatre Arts in Surrey, BodyWorks in Cambridge and the Royal Contemporary School in London.

She said: “I started dancing when I was five years old and it’s amazing to be able to turn my passion into a professional career.”

Abbie now has a funding audition at her preferred school Bodyworks in Cambridge.

Sharon Brown, programme leader for dance and musical theatre, said: ”Abbie has worked extremely hard for the past two years to secure places in the top schools in the UK. She has auditioned against hundreds of other students and we are very proud of her.

“Over the years many of our students have gone on to perform worldwide as qualified dancers, choreographers, teachers and directors.”

Renarta offers a range of full and part-time courses for anybody who has a passion and love for dance as well as classes for 12 to 16 year olds. Professional dance training courses at the college begin from entry level all the way up to dance teaching courses.

A range of dance styles and learning techniques are offered including street dance, jazz, lyrical, tap, classical, ballet, modern, contemporary, choreography, fitness techniques, musical theatre, vocal coaching, audition preparation and performance and rehearsal skills for productions.

With links to current West End performers and direct links into employment, past students from the college have gone on to work in the West End, direct at Universal Studios, open their own dance schools, work on cruise ships and become well-known dancers in music videos and many other successful careers.
