CHESHIRE West and Chester Council leader Mike Jones has arrived in Ellesmere Port's civic hall. The tory leader is attending all the constituency counts across Cheshire West and has come to keep an eye on proceedings and offer gentle support to Conservative colleague Stuart Penketh.

Looking relaxed and confident he said that he thought that it was going to be good night in Cheshire West for The Tories.

He said: "It's looking positive but whoever wins tonight we as a council will work with them. It is important that we work with the government and our MPs I don't believe you should play party politics with people's lives and our commitment is to work on their behalf."
