Firefighters are dealing with an electrical incident at a taxi firm in Chester.

Emergency services were called to KingKabs in Bridge Street after smoke and sparks were reported coming from the incoming electricity supply.

Crews from Chester fire station attended the incident at around 5.26am today (Friday, December 12).

It is thought the problem may have been caused by water dripping on to the meter inside the building, causing smouldering, say Scottish Power.

Electricians are currently at the taxi firm carrying out assessments.

A spokesperson for Scottish Power confirmed that this was an 'isolated incident' and not believed to be connected to the power failure which caused a power cut in the city just hours before the Christmas lights switch-on recently.

He said: "There appears to have been some sort of leak within the building. We have engineers at the scene."
