The General Election is just under one week away and as the City of Chester is one of the country's marginal seats, we have had more than our fair share of political visitors over the past couple of months.

From Labour leader Ed Miliband's encounter with a hen party outside the Westminster Hotel to Boris Johnson's proclamations at the city's ancient cross, the main message is, of course, 'Vote for My Party'.

We take a look at some of the other things our visitors have had to say:

Ed Miliband (Labour)

Labour leader Ed Miliband has a group selfie with a hen party after his battle bus parked up in City Road outside the Westminster Hotel

“Now I met a little boy called Aaron and it’s his sixth birthday at the beginning of May and he said to me as I left ’Are we going to get rid of David Cameron?’. What’s the answer to that? Are we going to get rid of David Cameron?!

When a loud collective response of ‘Yes!’ came back, the Labour leader said in the party atmosphere: “That’s the answer I want to hear.”

David Cameron (Conservative)

Prime Minister David Cameron at Christleton High School with Stephen Mosley

Speaking at Christleton High School after Mr Miliband's encounter with the hens: “I once took a flight to Ibiza on holiday and there were hens on it and I’ve signed a lot of different things in my life, but I think I’ll leave it at that!”

Ed Balls (Labour)

Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls meeting traders in the Watergate Deli along with Labour Chester parliamentary candidate Chris Matheson.

On David Holmes' video of Ed Miliband meeting the Chester hens: "In the top three scoops of this whole general election, there’s no doubt you got one of them. ”

Boris Johnson (Conservative)

Boris urged Chester to vote for Stephen Mosley

On Ed Miliband's decision to be interviewed by Russell Brand: “‘I'd rather have Russell Hobbs’ than Russell Brand as economic advisor."

Harriet Harman (Labour)

Harriet Harman, MP, deputy leader of the Labour Party with Julia Tickridge, Labour's Parliamentary Candidate for Weaver Vale with the Pink Bus in Northwich on February 27

Speaking aboard the party's controversial pink bus in Northwich: "We believe that this election will be a watershed for women in this country."

And finally, Liz Truss (Conservative)

On a visit to Backford Belles ice cream farm: “I really enjoyed visiting Backford Belles with Stephen and tasting their award-winning Jersey ice cream."
